Top 10 games of 2009: Number 4

4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Probably one of, if not the, best game in the COD series. The most popular FPS series retured in 2009 with MW2, follow-up to the acclaimed original Modern Warfare. After the widely canned World At War (apart from epic nazi zombies) this game was a fresh breath of air in the stifled world of FPS.

As is the case with COD, each game brings a new slice of epicness, and as ive said with alot of these games, they meet the expectations. MW2 is... brilliance on a stick.

FPS is all about gameplay, graphics and multiplayer. In all three areas MW2 ticks all the boxes and then does the extra credit question at the bottom that got half cut off by the photocopier.

the gameplay in MW2 is breathtaking. run around and shoot some terrorists (or americans/britains, if thats what you'd prefer), pull out your C4, blow up some more terrorists/americans/britains, pull out your comlink and summon a MOTHERFUCKING AC130. not only is this awesome, the way MW2 lets you do it is amazing. The aiming system is brilliant, shooting its brilliant, moving is brilliant, stand still is brilliant. its just awesome.

graphics - if any critisism is to be laid at COD, its graphics. but MW2 is a new stepping stone towards an area not usually traversed by FPS. explosions look like explosions, your actually blinded by flash grenades, physically stunned by stun grenades. the way the game is designed you actually feel it.

a major, major component of MW2 is its online ability. playing like an RPG, run around, killing noobs and completing challenges to unlock new weapons, accesories (such as laser dot aiming for weapons, fmj rounds, ACOG scopes, the list is endless) camos and perks. massive, massive replayability, the only reason this game isnt number two (it still doesnt beat my number one), is because online play has been slightly ruined by noobs.

overall score: 9.5/10
