Top 10 Games of 2009: Number 2

2. Left 4 Dead 2

Possibly the greatest post-apocolyptic shoot-up series ever (eat your heart out Resident Evil) returned with the sequel to the award winning Left 4 Dead.

Not happy with the original L4D, Valve proceeded to take it and run with it faster than Conrad when he threw Miguels shoe over the fence. To the critically acclaimed formula, they added melee weapons and new breeds of infected. Gameplay was tightened and Graphics updated. A new story arc was also added to tie together all 5 campaigns in the 2 games.

For those who live under rocks, the core concept of L4D is co-op shoot-the-crap-out-of-everything. Your team consists of yourself and 3 other players (CPU's, human players or a mixture of both). The game uses an engine known as the "director", which follows the way you play the game (be aware that you can do this game any multiple of ways, kill things in different ways, etc.) and then adjusts the scenario accordingly, creating a dynamic, replayable and enjoying gaming experience.

Gameplay involves very tactical FPS style fighting, guns and melee weapons can be used to take down the enemy hordes. The story and settings used create a very immersive and fuck-your-shit-up style which will engross the player instantaneously. Graphics plays a large part because of this, and unless you have a high end or gaming computer, you won't be able to enjoy this game to its fullest.

To put it bluntly, if you have not played this game, you have not lived.

Overall Score: 10/10
